This is a comprehensive glossary of genres and formulas covering every passage in the Hebrew Bible. It has over 1,100 entries, more than 500 of which have brief bibliographies. The complete bibliography at the back includes more than 1,200 works. There is a chapter providing an overview of the Hebrew Bible (Tanak), which enables the reader to find a glossary entry connected to a particular passage. The chapter on narratives primarily uses a content-based approach (distinguishing annunciation narratives, covenant establishment narratives, festival observance narratives, and so forth) which makes it especially useful for pastors and rabbis.
